There's a Hole in My Basement Dear Liza, pt. 2

The fence is done, thanks to the new jigsaw. Well it still has to be stained, I'm considering that another job though. Otherwise we'd never get anything "done". Now if only the neighbour would paint the garage. He kind of implied that if we want it painted, we'll have to do it ourselves.

Now that the yard is more or less safe, it's back to work on the basement. The back door is only 5'-7" high, about 13" too short. We want a full height door, the basement ceiling is less than 7', so the only option is to go down. So we dug a pit for the 2 steps. Of course it has to be deeper than 2 steps for the footing, floor drain and all that fun stuff. I removed some large boulders, I made a ramp to get one out. I probably could have lifted, why wreck your back when you don't have to though. I'm ready to start on the forms, for the inside anyways. We're going to do the inside first, put the door in, then dig the outside. Otherwise there'll be a gapping hole under the door. It felt good to get something started on the basement, it's been a while since I've done anything on it.

You made me laugh with your title. Once upon a time, I adored that Dear Liza song, but I had forgotten all about it. :)
