Groutin'

We started grouting the basement shower last night. Not my favourite task by a long shot. The walls are especially difficult, most of the grout seems to end up on the floor. I thought I'd get the whole thing done in an evening, I was wrong. I don't know if I had the consistency right, I tried mixing it 2 ways, one a little wet, one a little dry, didn't seem to make too much difference. So once the joy of putting the grout on is over, you have to wipe it all down, twice. And then buff it with a cloth. I think we went through about 50 gallons of water, just to do 2/3 of the shower. It looks great though, and it didn't seem quite so bad, once you get used to it. I think it's the initial shock of doing something you've never done before, it just seems overwhelming, until you realize it's not that difficult. We should have some pictures soon. Once the grouting is done, I can set the toilet, finish the drywall, and paint, then hang the door. Then the fun begins, I'm going to make the bathroom vanity.

I must have selective memory, because I only remember a bit of the grout work on my one tile job. Luckily that was a floor & I'd think that walls would be that much messier. At least there's a drain in the floor- that's got to help with the clean up! 1/3 left & I can't wait to see the pictures!
