Fence-tastic

The fence is coming along, we haven't posted any pictures, we're holding out until it's done, and then we'll do the reveal. We've got most of it up, we have to finish the gates (there's 4 of them) and the trellis above the one fence. Some of the posts on the concrete wall need more support, so I need to drill some wedge bolts in to the wall, then add supports. We're adding an arc to the fence, I'm using a salvaged piece of osb to make a template, then I can just run the jigsaw along it (one of those Bosch jigsaws would be nice right about now).
We're probably going to wait until August to stain it, it's just so wet here, so I'm sure it won't be dry until then. We're thinking of using Sikkens or Penofin, they're supposed to last the longest. We're going to use a semi-transparent stain, hopefully the pressure treated and the cedar will match somewhat.

Looking forward to seeing your fence. That is project number one for me this summer - still not sure how involved we're going to get, but need something to keep the kid and pups out of the road.

Yeah kids is the reason for our fence too. We're on a busy road, a pedestrian died in front of our house last week. The other reason is the retaining wall we built last summer, it's a 5' drop at the highest point. We're planning an area behind the 2 garages, where the kids from the 3 houses can go between yards. The neighbours have to build their retaining wall first though.

I'm a big fan of the Bosch cordless jigsaw. If you lived in Seattle, you could borrow mine :)

That's a sweet saw. I think I might get the corded variety for my birthday, a present for myself.
