Where's summer?

It seems like it has bypassed the west coast this year. I keep hearing about drought and hot temps in the east, and here, it's grey and cloudy everyday. I actually can see that yellow orb in the sky right now, makes you feel so good. I was stripping forms in the rain last night, putting temporary supports under the stairs, so I can replace the bottom concrete step. There's some honeycombing in the concrete I poured (voids), so I'm a little disappointed with that. I have to pour some more, so I'll probably try to patch it up with some non-shrink grout. This stairwell is turning out to be a tonne of work. I want to find a vintage door if I can, I think I may give in and use a metal one, since it's only the basement. As long as it has a window, since it's the laundry area as well. I hope it drys out a little by the weekend, I'm just so slow working in the rain, and the mood it puts me in, isn't a pretty sight. I know it'll get done, it just takes so long to do some things, my lack of planning and foresight doesn't help either.

We've actually been lucky with the fog and over-cast down here. We got to see the fireworks this year, and that doesn't always happen. Although, it is 1:15 now and still no sun. Usually, if it hasn't shown by now that means it will be cloudy all day.

I remember the northern california coast, low 60's in the summer, fog, and it's over 100f just inland. The west coast of Vancouver is very similiar. The last 2 summers have been in the 80's and 90's here.

What size is the doorway to the basement? Is it an exterior door? Don't get too frustrated with the stairwell- just think how much you would have paid someone else to do the work. Having to go back and add a little more non shrink grout isn't that bad!

it was only 5'7" tall and i think 32" wide... derek was always bonking his head coming in and out of the basement- and i barely fit...

it's actually 34" wide... and now a 6'-8" door will fit.

I am in Kamloops and we too are wondering where the summer is. I have a deck that needs to be re-stained. Good luck with the door.
