Half-Blind and Organized
Half-blind dovetails that is. These are the first ones I've attempted, besides the few practice ones I did. I'm pretty happy for a first attempt. It sure is time consuming doing them by hand, I don't know how many hours it took me to just do one drawer. This one is for the basement, 3 more to go for these cabinets. The most difficult part I had was marking the lines, if you make more than one line by accident (I used a marking knife), it's hard to know which one to follow. I still have to make the bottom of the drawer, which will be 1/4" plywood. I have to figure out how the bottom slides work too, I can't see how you could screw them to 1/4" plywood, since it's so thin. Might have to double up a strip in the middle.
Deb bought a bunch of hangers for the garden tools, and I helped her hang them. The area we call "the shed" is under the kitchen nook. I added a 1x4, to screw the hangers in to. It's a lot easier to get in to the shed now, even with the kids bikes. I cleaned out the back gutter as well, we'll see if our rain barrel fills better now. There aren't any big trees around, if was more of a sludge in the gutters. I'll clean the front ones in the fall, since we already have a garden planted, so they're hard to get at, at the moment.

backyard work
Here is the rain barrel we got a few weeks ago. I added the overflow pipe today. Bought the wrong pipe the first time, so back to the store. The 1" pipe said 1" 25mm and I read it as 1.25". It doesn't have much water in it considering all the rain we've been having, time to check the gutters, there much be something clogging them somewhere. We don't have big trees, so I usually only clean them every 2 years.
I finished working on the drainage pit for the floor drains from the back door. I had to extend the clean out by 7", and dig the pit at the very back or the yard. I lined the pit with landscape fabric, and filled it with broken concrete and gravel. We have 2 other similar pits, I had to redo the floor drain one, I straightened the run, and used 3" pipe, hopefully it won't clog now.
I replanted the grass, hopefully it doesn't take too long to come in.

A picture off the deck at sunset, the tree in the park is fully in bloom, and our camelia too.

Cabinet work in progress
I built the side panels for the cabinet today. Now for the counters and drawers. I want to practice my dovetails more before starting on the drawers. The counters are going to be concrete, 2" thick black. I need to make the mould first, we did a small counter in the bathroom, so this will be the 2nd one. We're not going to under-mount the sink, so that should make it a little easier. We have to do the bar top as well.
