There's a New Hole in My Basement, Dear Liza

I've decided to break open the new slab again. It seems like such a shame, and the same time, matters little, since the whole thing will be covered. This is some of the hardest concrete I've had to break. My neighbour next door called us, because he felt the banging of the sledgehammer in his living room! I started off by drilling holes, it seemed like the drill lacked it usual get up and go. After drilling half a dozen holes, I realized the drill was in reverse. It took about 2 hours to get to this point, the hole needs to be a little longer, that'll be easier, now that I can dig under the slab though. It rather a tricky part of the plumbing, there' the vent for the toilet, the sink and the shower all coming together in one place, it's a bit of a puzzle to figure it all out.

Get one of those plumbing books from HD or Lowes. I think Black & Decker puts it out. It's really helpful when you want to refer to it because you run into something funky.

My FIL did the plumbing, along with me and my neighbour. I have to move the whole thing, it's just difficult, with so many connections. I have a plumbing book, I don't know who wrote it though. You just got to love plumbing.

Just gotta say I loved that Dear Liza song when I was a kid. :)

Boy, I ran a jackhammer for about 4 hours once and I felt like I had been in a car wreck when I was done. Those things are brutal.

I admire you for your determination to do this right and make it so it works well. Not an easy job, but this bathroom (and whole basement) is going to be so nice when it's all done!
